Construction is due to begin on the traffic light and relocation of the Pequonnock River Trail crossing on Route 111 in Trumbull near the plaza occupied by Prime One Eleven and Fitness Edge. Guerrera Construction Company has been awarded the project and will begin construction by mid to late July. This long-awaited project is funded through a Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) grant and has undergone an extensive planning, design, and approval process.
Residents and businesses can expect to be apprised of specific construction activity that may affect traffic in the area in the via the town website, www.trumbull-ct.gov. Initial construction will prepare the area and the trail relocation. The traffic light equipment has been ordered and may be affected by supply chain issues, but will be installed once received. Once construction is complete, the existing crosswalk will be removed and the rapid flashing beacons will be relocated to the trail crossing on Spring Hill Road.
“Improving safety in this area has been a top priority of mine since I came to office. I am thrilled to have this construction get underway. These changes will be better for residents, visitors and businesses in the area”, stated First Selectman, Vicki Tesoro.
