Construction Coming to Route 111

5

Construction is due to begin on the traffic light and  relocation of the Pequonnock River Trail crossing on Route 111 in  Trumbull near the plaza occupied by Prime One Eleven and Fitness Edge.   Guerrera Construction Company has been awarded the project and will  begin construction by mid to late July. This long-awaited project is  funded through a Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program  (LOTCIP) grant and has undergone an extensive planning, design, and  approval process.

Residents and businesses can expect to be  apprised of specific construction activity that may affect traffic in  the area in the via the town website, www.trumbull-ct.gov.   Initial construction will prepare the area and the trail relocation.   The traffic light equipment has been ordered and may be affected by  supply chain issues, but will be installed once received.  Once  construction is complete, the existing crosswalk will be removed and the  rapid flashing beacons will be relocated to the trail crossing on  Spring Hill Road.

“Improving safety in this area has been a top  priority of mine since I came to office. I am thrilled to have this  construction get underway. These changes will be better for residents,  visitors and businesses in the area”, stated First Selectman, Vicki  Tesoro.

Anyone with questions regarding the project can contact William Maurer, Town Engineer at 203-452-5050 or wmaurer@trumbull-ct.gov.
