Jim Himes, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut's 4th district since 2009, has recently expressed his views on various political matters through social media posts. Born in Lima, Peru, in 1966 and a Harvard University graduate, Himes currently resides in Cos Cob.

On March 14, 2025, Himes criticized the Republican party for seeking Democratic support for what he described as a "dangerous, partisan funding bill." He questioned the necessity of aiding Republicans in empowering figures like Trump and Elon Musk. He urged senators to join House Democrats in voting against the bill. "After refusing to work with Democrats for months, Republicans now need our support to push through their dangerous, partisan funding bill. Why should we help them hand more power to Trump and Elon? Senators should join House Dems in voting NO."

Later that day, Himes addressed President Biden's approach towards Russian President Vladimir Putin. He emphasized that Putin is known for deceit and suggested that Biden consult the Intelligence Community for accurate information regarding situations like those in Kursk. Himes also implied that Putin perceives former President Trump as vulnerable to manipulation. "What the President fails to understand is that Putin lies all the time, and he should ask the Intelligence Community if he wants to know what's happening in Kursk (or anywhere else). Putin thinks Trump is an easy mark; stop proving him right."

In another post on March 14, 2025, Himes lamented the dismissal of key Pentagon personnel whom he described as among "the very smartest people" working tirelessly for national security. He compared this action unfavorably with firing those responsible for maintaining nuclear weapons security. "Not much noticed amidst the daily bonfire of vandalism, but these were the very smartest people in the Pentagon. Working overtime to keep Americans safe. So of course Hegseth couldn’t tolerate them. Up there with firing the people who maintain our nuclear weapons."
