Cost of college went up for all students at Housatonic Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at Housatonic Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Connecticut residents paid $4,404 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $128 more than the $4,276 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 199.1 percent more than residents this year, or $13,172. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 2.5 percent from $12,848 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Connecticut residents.

Data shows 77 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 477 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.5 million and 22 students took out student loans totaling more than $80,424.

Including all undergraduates (5,012), 3,182 students used grants or scholarships totaling $14.1 million, and 190 students took out $749,688 in federal student loans.
