57 percent of applicants to the University of Bridgeport were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Bridgeport, 70 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Bridgeport enrolled 5,485 students in fall 2018, including 3,415 in undergraduate and 2,070 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

55 percent of undergraduates are residents of Connecticut, and 39 percent are residents of other states. 6 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (29 percent) and white (22 percent).

The school admitted 57 percent of the 7,404 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 12 percent enrolled.
