Jim Himes, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 4th district since 2009, addressed recent discussions regarding the Epstein scandal and related conspiracy theories in a series of posts on July 23, 2025.

In his initial post, Himes stated, "1/ I’m hesitant to dignify desperate attempts to distract from the Epstein scandal with a response. But @DNIGabbard shouldn’t be allowed to push out dangerous conspiracy theories and call former presidents traitors unchecked. So here are my thoughts:" (July 23, 2025).

He continued by referencing multiple investigations into intelligence community assessments: "3/ This may be the most examined and re-examined assessment in the IC’s history. Over the last decade four different investigations have reaffirmed the conclusion, including a 2020 unanimous, bipartisan report by the Senate Intelligence Committee, led in part by @SecRubio." (July 23, 2025).

Himes also commented on findings related to Russian election interference: "5/This lie is contradicted by the 2017 ICA and a 2021 assessment that found Putin also preferred Trump in the 2020 election. It's also obvious to anyone who has watched Trump praise Putin, invite him to target Clinton’s emails, demean NATO, and walk back support for Ukraine." (July 23, 2025).

Jim Himes was born in Lima, Peru in 1966 and currently resides in Cos Cob. He holds a BA from Harvard University earned in 1988. Himes succeeded Chris Shays as representative of Connecticut's 4th District.
