Jim Himes, U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 4th district since 2009, recently addressed claims regarding Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and actions by the Department of Justice in a series of posts on his Twitter account.

On July 20, 2025, Himes stated: "No one alleges that the Russians did technical hacks of voting technology. But ALL of the investigations, including the senate bipartisan investigation found that the Russians sought to influence the 2016 election in Trump’s favor."

Later that same day, he commented on potential Department of Justice action: "I actually hope that DOJ takes this to court. They won’t, because they know that the howls of laughter from that court will be heard in four time zones. Watch for DOJ action. Not gonna happen. And when it doesn’t, I hope all the MAGA very online people ask why."

On July 22, 2025, Himes responded to statements about intelligence community conduct during the 2016 election: "This is a lie. And if he's confused, the President should ask @SecRubio, who helped lead the bipartisan Senate investigation that unanimously concluded that there was no evidence of politicization in the intelligence community's behavior around the 2016 election."

Himes’ remarks reference findings from multiple investigations into Russian interference efforts during the 2016 presidential campaign and emphasize conclusions drawn by bipartisan panels such as those led by Senator Marco Rubio.

Jim Himes has represented Connecticut’s 4th District since succeeding Chris Shays in Congress in 2009 and is currently serving at age 56 after earning a BA from Harvard University in 1988 and residing in Cos Cob.
