Small Business Saturday kicks off the 2022 holiday shopping season on Saturday, November 26, 2022. The Shop Small movement is gaining momentum as more people become aware of the impact of online shopping on local merchants. Especially during the past two years, our small, local merchants have depended upon residents shopping with them.
“Small, local businesses are the lifeblood of our Trumbull economy. I want to encourage everyone to visit our shops and buy local as often as possible this holiday season and every day. Buying local keeps money in our economy to generate even more benefits,” stated First Selectman Vicki Tesoro.
Trumbull has a number of small businesses offering unique gift options for consumers. In recent years, a number of new businesses have opened in commercial centers throughout Trumbull. Many of these establishments are owned and operated by Trumbull residents. Small businesses employ 47.5% of the employees in the private sector in the United States.
“Next Chapter Bookstore and Café, run by the Trumbull Board of Education and ELITE program, is open in Trumbull Center. Pure Poetry in Madison Village Plaza, Plasko’s Farm Creamery & Café on Daniels Farm Road, and City Line Florist on Nichols Avenue, have beautiful gift selections. Residents can purchase gift cards at our restaurants and at some of our fun recreational businesses like Xperiment VR in the Hawley Lane Mall, DBAT in the Trumbull Corporate Park, Abrakadoodle on Reservoir Avenue, or Escapology on Trefoil Drive. Our Westfield Trumbull Mall has a number of small, local business operators who can use support. Please keep all of them in mind this season,” stated Rina Bakalar, Director of Economic and Community Development for Trumbull.
