Fairfield University Women’s Golf had two players named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) teams, according to an April 20 announcement from the conference office. Katelynn Waclawski was selected for the All-MAAC First Team, while Sofia Nogalo earned a spot on the Second Team.

The recognition highlights the achievements of both athletes during the season. Waclawski, a senior, adds this First Team honor to her previous Second Team selection last spring. She finished in the top five at several tournaments including the Battle at the Beach, Women’s Intercollegiate and Prospect Bay events, as well as at the Fairfield Tri-Match. She also led all competitors at St. John’s Women’s Invitational and helped Fairfield secure second place among twelve teams.

Nogalo received her first All-MAAC selection with this year’s Second Team placement. She won first place out of 59 golfers at Le Moyne Lady Dolphin Invitational in the fall and placed ninth in both her recent appearances: St. John’s Women’s Invitational and Fairfield Tri-Match.

Additionally, five members of Fairfield’s team were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team: Nogalo, Waclawski, Sophia DeSantis, Juliette Prud’Homme, and Grace Windfelder. Eligibility for this academic honor requires student-athletes to have completed two semesters at their institution with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.

Fairfield Women’s Golf is set to compete in the upcoming MAAC Championship taking place April 21-23 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course.
