Jim Himes comments on Trump’s Venezuela policy and shares personal reflections

Jim Himes, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 4th district since 2009, has recently shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing current political events and personal reflections.

On November 13, 2025, Himes posted: "Let them eat cake."

Three days later, on November 16, he commented on recent foreign policy developments involving the Trump administration: "In a truly remarkable memorial to Dick Cheney, President Trump seems to be teeing up the most extreme neocon move ever with an attack on oil-rich Venezuela. No consultation with Congress. Bet he thinks we’ll be greeted as liberators. Cheney laughing, wherever he is."

Later that same day, Himes offered a more personal reflection: "The auditorium was very very big. I was very very small."

Himes has served in Congress since succeeding Chris Shays in 2009 and represents Connecticut's 4th District. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1966 and currently resides in Cos Cob at age 56. A Harvard University graduate with a BA earned in 1988, Himes brings both international and academic experience to his role.
