Fairfield County ranked first among counties in Connecticut by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Fairfield County residents was $39,355 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 340,491 households with a population of 944,348.

The county with the lowest median resident income in the state was Windham County with $31,121 per year after adjusting for inflation – $8,234 less than Fairfield County. It had 44,449 households with a population of 116,538.
