The Sacred Heart University women’s track and field team was selected second in the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches’ Poll, according to a March 20 announcement from the university.

This ranking follows a strong indoor season for Sacred Heart, where the team finished second overall at the MAAC Indoor Championships. The Pioneers aim to continue their performance as they transition into the outdoor season.

In the poll, Quinnipiac received nine first-place votes to secure the top spot. Sacred Heart followed with two first-place votes, while Rider came in third with one first-place vote. Other teams ranked in order were Mount St. Mary’s, Manhattan, Iona, Marist, Merrimack, Saint Peter’s, Siena, Niagara, and Canisius.

The full outdoor track and field schedule is expected to be released soon. The team will look to build on its recent success as it prepares for upcoming competitions.
