The Sacred Heart University men’s track and field team finished second out of 18 teams on April 19 at the 50th ECAC Division I Women’s & 149th IC4A Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Piscataway, New Jersey.
This result highlights a strong performance for the team, including a program-record in the 4×800-meter relay. The relay team of Dylan Peterson, Joshua Voorhees, Liam Keish, and Lance Hayes secured first place with a time of 7:39.58.
Colin Brown contributed significantly to the team’s success by winning the 200-meter race with a time of 21.73 seconds, finishing just ahead of his closest competitor by three-hundredths of a second. Brown also placed fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.64 seconds, earning a total of fourteen points across both events for Sacred Heart.
Alexander Rotondi added four more points for the Pioneers by finishing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.12 seconds.
Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will compete next week at the University of Pennsylvania during the Penn Relay Carnival from Thursday through Saturday.
