Sacred Heart men’s soccer draws 1-1 with FDU after late equalizer

The Sacred Heart University men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Fairleigh Dickinson University on Sept. 6 at Park Ave Field in Fairfield, Connecticut.

The match was closely contested, with both teams creating several scoring opportunities. The result leaves Sacred Heart with a record of 1-2-1 and FDU at 3-0-2.

FDU took the lead in the 75th minute when Nk Tima scored off a cross from Alex Ferenac. However, Sacred Heart responded late in the game. In the 84th minute, Daniel Losfablos headed in a free kick delivered by Luca Marinelli to tie the match at one goal apiece. Marinelli’s assist marked his first career point for Sacred Heart.

Both teams finished with an equal number of shots—13 each—with Sacred Heart putting five on target and FDU four. Goalkeeper Luca Marinelli made three saves for Sacred Heart, while Noah Reuscher recorded four saves for FDU. Ivan Morcillo led Sacred Heart with five shots, three of which were on goal.

The Pioneers also earned six corner kicks compared to four for FDU during the match.

Sacred Heart will next play Seton Hall in a non-conference road match scheduled for Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 p.m.
