The Sacred Heart University men’s cross country team finished ninth overall at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships on Nov. 1 in Montgomery, New York.

The result highlights the team’s performance among conference competitors and marks a notable achievement for several individual runners. Jake Harold led the Pioneers with a 34th place finish, earning a spot on the MAAC All-Rookie team. Harold also broke his own program record for the fastest 8-kilometer run by a first-year athlete.

Michael Mason, a junior, followed closely behind in 53rd place, contributing valuable points to the team’s total. Other scoring runners for Sacred Heart included Aidan Chichocki (73rd), Harjaap Singh (83rd), Michael Maresca (84th), Demetri Franzese (89th), and Alexander Armendariz (91st).

The event provided an opportunity for both experienced and new athletes to compete at a high level within their conference. The performances of Harold and Mason were particularly significant for the team’s overall standing.

Looking ahead, Sacred Heart will compete next at the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships in Hopkinton, New Hampshire on Friday, November 14.
