Jim Himes, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 4th district since 2009, has recently shared several posts on his social media account addressing concerns about the Department of Justice and foreign interference in law enforcement operations.
On February 11, 2026, Himes criticized the Department of Justice under former President Trump, stating: “The Trump Department of Justice can’t get an indictment against a ham sandwich. Maybe it’s time to start going after criminals and terrorists instead of the Mad King’s political opponents.”
Later that day, he questioned the involvement of intelligence officials in local law enforcement matters regarding Fulton County: “Not a single mention of foreign interference in the unsigned Fulton County affidavit. The intelligence community has no role in a law enforcement operation. So what was @DNIGabbard doing there?”
On February 12, 2026, Himes posted another comment referencing what he described as unsurprising news: “I’ll take “Least Surprising Story of the Day” for $500, Alex.”
Himes has represented Connecticut’s 4th District since succeeding Chris Shays in 2009. He was born in Lima, Peru in 1966 and currently resides in Cos Cob. Himes is also an alumnus of Harvard University, where he earned his BA in 1988.
