Fairfield women’s golf team second after first round of 2026 MAAC Championship

Fairfield University Women’s Golf is in second place after the first round of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, according to an April 21 announcement. The team completed their opening round at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The tournament is significant for Fairfield as they compete against nine other teams for the conference title. Their strong start positions them well going into the next rounds.

Fairfield posted a team score of 301, trailing Quinnipiac by two strokes and holding a five-shot lead over third-place UAlbany. Grace Windfelder led Fairfield with a one-over-par 73, tying her for second place individually alongside Sophia Fujita from Quinnipiac. Thantita Aungsuseewong from UAlbany currently leads all players with an opening-round score of 72.

Other top performances for Fairfield included Ainhoa Jauregi, who finished sixth with a score of 75, and Katelynn Waclawski, who tied for seventh with a score of 76 in the field of fifty golfers. Addie Chang carded a 77 to tie for thirteenth in her first career conference tournament round, while Sofia Nogalo added an 81 to tie for twenty-ninth.

The championship continues Wednesday morning with Round Two beginning at 8 a.m., and Fairfield scheduled to tee off starting at 10:15 a.m.
