Senior midfielder David Garcia Gallego of the Sacred Heart University men’s soccer team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week, according to a Sept. 1 announcement from the league office.

The recognition comes after Garcia Gallego scored two goals and provided an assist as the Pioneers split their two matches last week. He scored Sacred Heart’s only goal in a match against Stony Brook and contributed both a goal and an assist in Friday’s home opener, helping lead his team to a 3-1 victory over Yale.

This award highlights Garcia Gallego’s impact on the field and his role in driving the team’s offense during early season play. The Pioneers are scheduled to return home on Saturday, September 6, when they will host FDU at 6:00 p.m.

The honor reflects both individual achievement for Garcia Gallego and momentum for Sacred Heart University’s men’s soccer program as they continue their season.
