Senior Amelia Wood has been named an All-Met Honorable Mention by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, according to an April 21 announcement. Wood led the Sacred Heart Pioneers women’s basketball team in scoring, assists, steals, and blocks during the 2025-26 season.

This recognition adds to several other honors for Wood this year, including selection to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Conference Second Team and earning both MAAC All-Academic and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District distinctions. In previous seasons, she received Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Rookie honors as a freshman and third team accolades as a sophomore.

Wood averaged 12.9 points per game—ranking ninth in the league—and was second on her team with 6.5 rebounds per game. She also led Sacred Heart with 65 steals, 65 assists, and 32 blocks. Wood started all 31 games of the season and scored in double figures in 23 contests, including a streak of 16 consecutive games with at least ten points. She had five games with more than twenty points scored.

A highlight of her senior year was a career-high performance of 26 points against Niagara on New Year’s Day during MAAC play; she shot nine-for-fourteen from the field and made five three-pointers in that game. Additionally, two halfcourt buzzer beaters from Wood were featured during her final collegiate season—one appearing on Sports Center’s Top-10 segment.

Wood graduates as Sacred Heart’s fourteenth leading scorer with a total of 1,278 career points. She is also among program leaders in three-point field goals made (fourth), free throw percentage (eighth), and steals (fifth).

The Pioneers finished their campaign with a record of thirteen wins and eighteen losses overall—including ten conference victories—and reached their first-ever appearance in the MAAC Championship tournament held in Atlantic City.
